SAPTCO launched its plan for developing and diversifying its transportation services in 2007, under which it adopted a project for strategic development (SAPTCO metro) as a step to contribute to the development of transportation within the kingdom.
 

SAPTCO executed an agreement with its french partner – ratp dev, in establishing the camco company that was awarded a contract from the royal commission for riyadh city (rcrc) on 17 sept 2018; for operating and maintaining two of the six lines of the metro. the first line (blue line: distance 38 km) and the second line (red line: distance 25.3 km) in riyadh for twelve (12) years, is jointly owned by the french ratp company (80%) and saudi public transport company “SAPTCO” (20%).
 

This strategic step serves as a preparation for launching metro and train services, as part of the projects of public transportation across the kingdom, in particular between cities with high population densities.
