Inauguration of the Public Bus Transportation Project in Al-Ahsa Governorate

His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr Al Saud, Governor of Al-Ahsa, inaugurated today the Public Bus Transportation Project in the governorate, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Majid Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing. The project is a partnership between the Transport General Authority, the Al-Ahsa Municipality, and SAPTCO.
The project consists of 10 routes covering all parts of the region, operated by 41 buses running daily for 18 hours, spanning a total distance of 330 kilometers and stopping at 83 designated locations throughout the area.
The buses are equipped with the latest technologies, operating on environmentally friendly fuel. They feature charging ports for phones and mobile devices, interior screens displaying routes, surveillance cameras, and tracking systems.
This public transportation project offers accessible travel options for all segments of society. The ticket price for a single trip is SAR 3.45, with various subscription packages available to suit users’ needs.
The project marks a significant milestone in the development of public transportation services in Al-Ahsa. It reflects SAPTCO’s role in providing modern transport solutions that contribute to improving quality of life by facilitating mobility within the governorate, reducing traffic congestion, and lowering carbon emissions — all in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
