SAT, a Subsidiary of the SABTCO Group, Launches the First Hydrogen-Powered Intercity Bus in Saudi Arabia
In a pioneering step towards enhancing environmental sustainability, SAT, a subsidiary of the SABTCO Group, has launched the first hydrogen-powered intercity bus in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The bus was inaugurated in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Ahsa, and His Excellency Dr. Rameeh bin Mohammed Al-Rameeh, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Acting Chairman of the Public Transport Authority, along with several other officials. This bus marks a significant leap in the local transportation sector, reflecting our commitment to providing innovative and sustainable transportation solutions.
The new bus is capable of traveling up to 635 kilometers on a single charge and can accommodate 45 passengers. It will connect the city of Dammam with the Governorate of Al-Ahsa, covering a daily distance of 359 kilometers, as part of the intercity transport services provided by SAT in the Southern Region.
His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr emphasized that this initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which aims to enhance environmental sustainability by adopting eco-friendly technologies across various sectors. His Highness added that this initiative represents an important step towards improving the quality of life and providing innovative, safe transportation options for passengers.
On his part, His Excellency Dr. Rameeh Al-Rameeh highlighted that this experience reflects the Public Transport Authority’s commitment to fostering innovation and developing sustainable transportation methods. He added that this initiative is part of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to enhance the Kingdom's global competitiveness in this sector.
With the launch of this bus, SABTCO reaffirms its leadership in adopting sustainable environmental transportation solutions, contributing to the Kingdom’s goals of cleaner and more innovative transport in line with the country’s pioneering environmental conservation initiatives.
