Riyadh – September 17, 2025

The Saudi Public Transport Company (SAPTCO) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with HOLON, the European company specialized in the development of electric and autonomous buses. This partnership aims to operate autonomous buses to enhance urban mobility efficiency and improve quality of life, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to provide modern transport modes and sustainable urban solutions.

The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Eng. Khalid bin Abdullah AlHogail, CEO of SAPTCO Group, and Dr. Sven Herzig, Chief Sales Officer and General Manager of HOLON.

The agreement includes three main phases of implementation: starting with the deployment of autonomous buses to test the technology and build public trust, followed by the gradual expansion of the fleet to cover major cities and projects across the Kingdom.

Under the partnership, SAPTCO will oversee operational aspects and coordinate project requirements with relevant stakeholders, while HOLON will provide advanced technical solutions along with training and maintenance. This collaboration will contribute to reducing carbon emissions, supporting the transition to clean energy, and delivering safe mobility solutions that serve the Kingdom’s environmental and economic goals.

Eng. Khalid bin Abdullah AlHogail, CEO of SAPTCO Group, stated: “This partnership represents a qualitative step toward a more innovative and sustainable future for the transport sector in the Kingdom. Through it, we aim to enhance service efficiency and deliver added value to both society and the national economy.”

This initiative reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to developing an advanced and sustainable mobility ecosystem, adopting new standards for public transport based on innovation and modern technologies, and reinforcing its leadership regionally and globally.
